I LOVE APPLES! There, now you know it. We can get apples all year round, but all apple bakes and sauces are heavily associated with autumn for me.
This year we even went to an apple orchard outside Hamburg to pick apples ourselves. We brought back about 5kg assorted apples, I cooked so many different recipes and this dead easy applesauce is one of them.
It is incredibly easy if you own a pressure cooker, if not – it might just take a little more of your active presence in the kitchen.
You can serve applesauce warm or cold, eat as a snack, as a side to potato fritters or even use it in baking. It is truly delicious.
*Adjust spices to your liking or omit them altogether.
**If you make too much applesauce – transfer to an airtight container and freeze up to 3 months.
Instant Pot Applesacue
- 1,5 kg apples
- 50 ml water
- 1/2 lemon juice
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/8 tsp ground nutmeg
- 1/8 tsp ground clove
- Peel, core and roughly chop apples.
- Add all ingredients to Instant Pot, set on manual high pressure for 5 minutes, allow for natural release when finished.
- Using a whisk or an immersion blender bring the sauce to a desired consistency (applesauce will thicken up as it cools down).
